While Democrats enjoy very public support from Hollywood's top actors and musicians, who often hold lavish events for their favorite candidates, Republican supporters in Hollywood try hard to keep their political views quiet.

"They learn very quickly, if they know what's good for them, to donate to the Democratic Party," said Andrew Breitbart, co-author of "Hollywood, Interrupted."

"If they were to donate to the Republican Party, they would be exposed to career-ending ridicule, period."

The fact is that Bonds is under attack from a collection of torture-loving, Habeas Corpus shredding, illegal wire tapping, political operatives.

The idea that a Barry Bonds indictment becomes the first act of Mike Mukasey's Justice Department only exposes Sens. Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer, and the other Democratic pols who backed his confirmation.

They called him "a man of character" as well as "a strong leader, committed to depoliticizing the agency's operations."

There is no evidence of character and leadership in this indictment; only the tawdry political desire for headlines.

Mukasey and friends may have worked themselves into a lather over the thought of their "Capone" behind bars. But they shouldn't be picking out his orange jumpsuit just yet.   more »

The constant drumbeat by Clinton, 60, and her campaign to tag Obama, 46, as lacking the experience to be president has turned the '08 campaign, on the Democratic primary side, into a generational war.

Obama has fired back, relishing the role of enfant terrible. As the gap narrows between the two in public opinion surveys, members of Clinton's baby boom generation will be confronted with their own, perhaps final, defining moment:

Will 2008 mark the final sell-out in which they confirm that they are as pigheaded as they once believed their parents to be? Or will the presidential primaries bring a generational homecoming in which they willingly pass the torch that their own elders tried to withhold from them?

The fix is in. The Oligarchy has done its work well. Nothing will change, even if the Democrats sweep the election. True, there will be some superficial changes.

Where Republicans swung a naked broad sword, Democrats will drape theirs in velvet; where conservatives crowed, liberals will coo; where the right swaggered, the 'left' will soft-shoe, but it will still be the same old shit.

The only substantive difference is that when they screw the public, they will feel its pain; you never did.

Whether a Democrat or Republican occupies the Oval Office, the first presidential priority will be the care and feeding of the Corporatist State and the Military-Industrial Complex that protects its overseas interests.
