During the month of March 2007, a new wave of propaganda, diplomatic and media attacks against Zimbabwe were launched.

These biased news reports on Zimbabwe are not new. They extend back to the period of the national liberation struggle to free the country from the settler-colonial regime of Ian Smith during the 1960s and 1970s.

The Zimbabwe African National Union and the Zimbabwe African People's Union, the two organisations that led the movement for independence, were never viewed favourably by the mainstream media outlets in the United States and Europe.

This tradition of hostility is continuing today and is clearly reflected in a series of distorted reports that have been issued by the Cable News Network and other media outlets that essentially parrot what is deemed as the correct perspective on political developments in Zimbabwe.   more »

A leading government official in Teheran charged Thursday that the Bush Regime is sponsoring terrorist attacks as a means of ratcheting up its campaign of aggression against Iran.

The charge by the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Gholamali Haddadadel, followed a report by ABC News in the US that Washington has been covertly aiding and advising a militant Pakistani Islamist group that has carried out a string of terrorist attacks against Iranian targets.

“There is no doubt in our minds that the United States spares no efforts to put pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iraq,” Haddadadel told reporters following a meeting with Pakistani officials in Islamabad.

“The best indication of United States support to a particular terrorist group is that one of the leaders of his terrorist group was given the opportunity to speak on VoA [Voice of America] after committing the crime.”   more »

If you look at Bush's face, it is immediately striking how different the two sides look.

If you block off one side or the other from your vision and only look at one half of the face, you see a very different face on one side from what is on the other.

On the right side of Bush's face in the picture above is the socially constructed, outwardly directed side. We see the famous Bush smirk. It is a little chimp-like, a little mischievous. It's cocky and defiant, but more or less friendly about it.

On the left side of the face, the side that represents the unconscious, the deeper levels of the personality, the hidden, private side, there is no smirk.   more »

The navy personnel travelled first class on a British Airways flight from Tehran Airport to Heathrow, where they lined up in front of media before boarding helicopters.

They then flew to Royal Marines Barracks Chivenor, in Devon, where they were reunited with their families.

After medical examinations, the group underwent a full debriefing, which lasted "hours rather than minutes".

Defriefing is a well-worn technique to 'reprogram' the British sailors and set them up for a propaganda press conference.

It was obviously a staged show to cover up the sailors' illegal entry into Iran's territory.   more »
