Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and Pie,
Invaded Iraq and made them die

Whatever Bush does in Iraq,

Republicans next year will probably need to

paddle away from him much more

energetically than they have so far.

It also means that no matter how hard they swim,

they could still be swamped if Bush

can't stabilize his sinking ship

The Bush Regime has displayed absolutely

no interest in heeding the wisdom

of The First Law of Holes

- when you're in a hole, stop digging

- even as the circle of carnage widens

and public support plummets to new and awe-inspiring lows

Bush the Albatross

The Bush Regime has displayed absolutely no interest in heeding the wisdom of The First Law of Holes - when you're in a hole, stop digging - even as the circle of carnage widens and public support plummets to new and awe-inspiring lows.

The original plan called for the establishment of a permanent American military presence in Iraq, and the bitter-enders in the White House mean to stay this course no matter what comes.

For now, they can do so. Bush and Cheney hold the Executive high ground, their lackeys control the military, and if they don't wish to withdraw from Iraq, any Congressional strategies for withdrawal are meaningless.

The administration dictates policy, and they control the military. Further, any withdrawal legislation supported only by the Democratic majority will be undone by Bush's veto pen.

No legislative solution can be successfully passed and protected from that veto until 67 senators all vote "Aye."

Before anyone can even begin to craft a plan for extracting us from this disaster, Bush and Cheney will have to be politically cornered, politically overwhelmed, and politically defeated.

That defeat must begin in Congress. That is the punch behind the Reid-Levin amendment. That is the punch behind the next amendment to come, and the one after that, and the one after that.

The administration's Iraq policy has almost no public support, and Senate Republicans know it. Their previously unswerving support for Bush and his Iraq policy now hangs ponderously around their necks like Coleridge's albatross.

The Answers Bush Has Been Looking For

Yesterday, Bush invited various thinkers to the White House. He askd them a few questions (always about himself, of course, as befits a narcissist).

Here they are, with my answers (just to relieve the White House of the obligation to invite me).

What is the nature of good and evil in the post-Sept. 11 world?

Simply asking this question shows that you don't know what you are talking about. The 'post-Sept. 11 world' doesn't exist. Good and evil are false categories.

Try law-abiding vs. criminal. In that context, it is absolutely wrong to commute Scooter Libby's sentence and hold random men in Gitmo for the rest of their lives, torturing and destroying them.

What lessons does history have for a president facing the turmoil I'm facing?

Try listening to people who disagree with you, rather than those who suck up to you. Did you read any of the bloggers or journalists who considered Libby's sentence just? Or did you just read the National Review?

How will history judge what we've done?

As a big genocidal crime (invading Iraq) surrounded by lots of little crimes (commuting Scooter Libby's sentence).

Why does the rest of the world seem to hate America?

Because your administration bullies everyone, and you and Cheney are the chief bullies, but you have absolutely no understanding of this, and so you do the same stupid and crazy sorts of things over and over again, such as commuting Scooter Libby's sentence.

Or is it just me they hate?

Not just you, Cheney, too.

Cheney Is Assuming the Powers of the Presidency [Run for Your Lives}

Dick Cheney is assuming the powers of the presidency for the second time in five years while President Bush undergoes a medical procedure.

Bush planned to hand over authority to Cheney on Saturday before the president goes under anesthesia to receive a colonoscopy _ a test to look for potential cancer.

Just a fFew Things that Might Just Show Up on Bush’s Colonoscopy…

The section of the Constitution that clearly defines the wording “Do as you damn well please. Washington was supposed to be a King!”

The secret location that Dick Cheney has been hiding in every time the rest of the nation has been in peril.

All of those old signs that used to be in the back window of cars that said “Baby on Board” that were replaced with "My Son is a Marine".

Dick Cheney’s gold watch from Haliburton along with fifteen other solid gold watches from Haliburton engraved with "We love Dick" since he took office.

Top secret plans to invade New Mexico that had to be scrapped when it was discovered by the CIA that they were actually a State. Nasty notes about Bill Richardson were deemed to confidential to repeat.

Global positioning marking systems to clarify where President Bush ass and his elbow are at all times. The units were found to be defective. Who'd of thunk that?

One set of drapes with Dick Cheney’s initials stitched in over the seal of the President.

450,000 imaginary troops that invaded Iraq and the war was won in under 90 days. “Mission Accomplished”. No banners dictating such were found on the cellular level.

The Iraq War Debate: The Great Denier-in-Chief

If ever there were a moment for serious discussion about the Iraq war, this is it.

Americans want Bush to explain how he will extract the troops and contain the bloodletting and chaos the war has unleashed.

Washington’s dwindling band of allies and Iraq’s neighbors are also waiting to hear. Pretty much everyone in the world wants answers except the president.

With the White House refusing to lead, lawmakers in both parties have begun to talk about the best way to end the war.

But instead of seizing the opening, Bush and his team continue to spout disinformation and vacuous slogans about victory and, of course, more character assassination.

It is Bush who has denied the military what it needs, first by shortchanging the Pentagon on troops and armor and then by stranding American forces in a civil war with no achievable military goal and evaporating political support.

Bush denied Americans a serious debate about starting this war. It’s far past time for a serious and honest debate about how to end it.

A Crack in the Bush Gang

It was a shock to see Defense Secretary Robert Gates battling tears Wednesday evening as he spoke about Maj. Douglas Zembiec, a Marine and father of a 1-year-old daughter, who was killed in May after requesting a second tour of duty in Iraq.

Shocking and yet somehow profoundly validating and cathartic.

Choking, pausing, visibly suffering and clearly fighting off an onslaught of unwelcome emotion as he addressed the Marine Corps Association’s annual dinner, Gates seemed, for a moment, to tap into national sentiment in a way that the Bush team has never before done.

Sure, they tapped into our anger, fear and hatred in the days and months after 9/11. Sure, their swagger stoked our desires for vengeance and soothed some of the terror that took up residence in our guts in the weeks following the attacks.

But here was something new: an acknowledgment, however unbidden, of the complex range of negative emotions — sadness and frustration and, yes, I think, guilt — that’s now weighing upon the nation’s soul after four disastrous years in Iraq.

Bush Regime Threatens Military Intervention in Pakistan

The Bush Regime this week signalled a tough new stance on Pakistan, demanding that military strongman General Pervez Musharraf takes action against Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters in areas bordering Afghanistan, and threatening US strikes if he failed to do so.

White House spokesman Tony Snow told the US media on Thursday that Musharraf was “going to have to be more aggressive”, in dealing with security problems in the border regions. Asked if US military forces would be sent into Pakistan, Snow declared: “We never rule out any options, including striking actionable targets.”

Hoping to stem its own deep political crisis at home, the Bush administration is recklessly destabilising another country in a move that is certain to further fuel anti-American sentiment and reverberate throughout the broader region.
