Feminists claim the problem has always been male sexuality
Ha, if it wasn't for male sexuality none of us would be here. They haven't worked out how to grow babies in vats just yet. The naked female form excites most men, always has and always will. The naked female form during sex is even more exciting. This is why there is a market for porn, just like why there is a market for fast cars and expensive technology, it excites men. Of course it excites some women as well but it's mainly men. Now unless you want to neuter men's desires for the opposite (or same) sex then you will not get rid of porn. So stop moralising and accept sex as a necessary part of human nature and porn as an expression of that. more »

Bush clearly is trying to exploit "al Qaeda" as fear fodder, probably knowing that it could backfire and merely highlight his administration's unfitness to run the government.
But fear has been awfully good to the Bushies, and it's therefore quite reasonable for them to perceive it as "the old reliable". Bush is betting that Americans will once again be too frightened to think critically, as they have proven themselves generally to be since 9/11. Whether there is now finally enough evidence of the Administration's unfitness to govern to sustain this traditionally winning strategy remains to be seen. It's a pity to consider that the boldest strategy one can attribute to a president might be nothing more than a risky propaganda campaign, but there it is. more »

The neckline sat low on her chest and had a subtle V-shape. The cleavage registered after only a quick glance.
No scrunch-faced scrutiny was necessary. There wasn't an unseemly amount of cleavage showing, but there it was. Undeniable. It was startling to see that small acknowledgment of sexuality and femininity peeking out of the conservative -- aesthetically speaking -- environment of Congress. After all, it wasn't until the early '90s that women were even allowed to wear pants on the Senate floor. It was even more surprising to note that it was coming from Clinton, someone who has been so publicly ambivalent about style, image and the burdens of both. more »

On a really good shopping day, we find ourselves in the midst of an enchanted world where the line between reality and the American Dream becomes an indistinct blur.
An upscale mall in suburban America is THE place to be on a weekend afternoon if you fancy yourself to be one of the "beautiful people" - white, at least comfortable financially, attractive, and thus amongst the only people who truly matter in this world. Posturing, preening, styling, profiling, seeing, being seen, and best of all, exercising their patriotic duty to God, country, and retailer, the "beautiful people" set the trend for the rest of us. It's hard to conceive of something more "inspiring" than the most spoiled and privileged human beings on the face of the planet filling their Hummers with bags emblazoned with the likes of Abercrombie, Neiman Marcus, the Limited, Nordstrom, and Saks. more »

With Bush getting more delusional every day, the only way that Congress will end the War in Iraq before January 2009 is if Republicans desert the President and join the Democratic majority behind withdrawal.
But as the public urges Congress to bring our troops home, it’s infuriating how slow it has been to get more Republican votes. In the House, only two voted for a deadline in March, and four did in July. Now the small handful of Republicans who have done the right thing are facing primary challenges from their own party because, despite overall public opinion, a majority of registered Republicans still support the War. But this won’t be true a year from now, and if Republicans are trying to “send a message” by attacking each other on this issue, they are sealing their own doom. more »
