There are two styles of films -- one are features that mimic, however badly, the Hollywood model of plot and characters.

But the other, Gonzo, has no pretensions, and is simply the filming of sex acts, which, Jensen writes, while also occurring in features, are "performed in rougher fashion, often with more than one man involved, and more explicitly degrading language, which marks women as sluts, whores, cunts, nasty bitches and so on."

The Gonzo films, which have come to dominate the industry, also emphasize the newer trend of sexual acts, which include: double penetration -- anal and vaginal -- and ass to mouth, or ATM, where anal sex is followed by sticking the penis in the women's mouth.

The new "Hitler", at least for a while, has lodged in a prosaic midtown Manhattan hotel. Contrary to a plethora of demonizing myths, this Persian werewolf did not evade his abode to eat kids for breakfast in Central Park.

Instead, he turned on a carefully calibrated public relations charm offensive. Whatever his polemical views, for a now-seasoned head of state like Ahmadinejad to turn astonishing US disinformation on Iran, the Middle East and US foreign policy for his own advantage ended up as a string of slam-dunks.   more »

Now that America's nightmares focus on Islamism rather than Marxism, it's odd that we haven't seen a spate of movies depicting idyllic Midwestern towns under control of a Muslim theocracy, as Osama bin Laden envisaged in his latest video message.

Perhaps the problem is that it would be much harder to depict the culture shock of such an alternative reality than it was to show the communist hordes sweeping across the Land of the Free.

The US is, after all, a profoundly religious nation, so praying five times a day wouldn't be much of an imposition.

It's a country that suffered a collective aneurysm at the exposure of a pop star's nipple, and more recently suffered similar traumas over visible underwear; making the burqa compulsory would solve these problems at a stroke.   more »

The mystery of why US President George W Bush took center stage at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday but did not promote the next neo-con war on Iran was solved when it became evident that the job has fallen to his new European poodle, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who in his speech once again assumed the inevitability of an Iranian nuclear bomb.

Bush instead announced new economic sanctions against the junta in Myanmar and urged the world to apply "diplomatic leverage to help the Burmese people regain their freedom".

Here is Bush engaging in another "liberation from tyranny and violence", this time in Asia, while trying to start yet another war, as usual, in the Middle East.

The connection is clear: the Bush conception of "human rights" means "oil and gas". Bush also claimed at the UN that Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq had "asked for our help". Given the precedents, even the isolated people in Myanmar should be afraid, very afraid.   more »
