“Medic! Medic!” That’s the rally cry being heard across the Wall Street battlefield. With the market looking more like triage at a front line Mash unit, investors have to be asking where the morphine is. Even for Hedge Fund managers when every short works and every long doesn’t, it can become quite uncomfortable.

Yesterday there was no place to hide. There was no rotation from losers to the new winners. Nothing worked. Stocks at 52 week lows continued their slide and stocks near their highs began their fall from grace. The sick are infecting the healthy.

Pessimism is hitting peak levels and the market is close to and about to cross market lows first set last year. Add to that the high probability of an emergency rate cut and you have the ingredients for a massive oversold short covering rally.

Even when it materializes it won’t cure the damage that has been done. Whether the economy is in recession or not is beside the point. For most Americans it feels like one and that’s all that really matters.   more »

A few weeks ago, Republican candidates, with the exception of Mike Huckabee, were cheering the Bush economy. Now, they know it's going in the crapper and they don't have be in Michigan to see it.

Democrats were obsessed with Fallujah and Baghdad and were appalled at Bush deficits. Now they want big stimulus packages to keep the economy from tanking.

It's fitting that Michigan came the same day as the say Citigroup earnings report and Wall Street selloff.

Most women are on a lifetime quest to be taken seriously, by spouses, children, doctors, everyone. What do women voters have in common with Clinton's campaign? It's about power, stupid.

For the past 10 years, I've spoken to women all across the world about power. For the first five years, I had to apologize for using the word. "Power," young women would grimace.

"Power means aggression and there's nothing left to fight for." Soccer moms would turn off when they heard the word, or translate it to mean the cylinders on their SUVs.

But recently, women have become active in an increasingly feminine critique against men's power to create war, subprime mortgages, and assorted ills of Mother Nature.   more »

Obama is exactly the right kind of "African-American". He brings solace to Whites, letting them believe that racism is dead and integration is now part of the American dream.

If Only Obama were 'uppity.' He is a 'colored' candidate who refuses even to say whether he supports reparations for slavery.

One of the worst aspects of the King legacy is that, thanks to him, no African-American today is allowed to bring up racism, even in the most objective fashion, without severe repercussions.

You will be instantly labelled a radical, a Black Panther (a bad thing), or a Mau Mau (a very bad thing) who wants to kill the white man.   more »
