Barack Obama: A Glorified American Idol

These precocious young, mainly middle class enthusiasts, who believe that the world began when they started paying attention, have not had the experience of being sold out by Dem after Dem.
They didn't live through their parents' versions of the exact same overblown and unfulfilled enthusiasms for Jesse Jackson, who also supposedly energized youth and was historic, and/or Bill Clinton.
They haven't seen the Dems run a slightly different version of the same candidate and campaign as their Magic Negro every four years since Dukakis, or maybe even Mondale or Carter, with almost always the same result.
Many of them don't understand the difference between a political movement and a protest march, chat room or ad campaign.
And, most of all, they by and large don't feel adult anxieties about health care, working conditions, pensions and the like.
Therefore, they are the ideal propagandists for the fantasy that Obama can transform the political environment through his person, as well as his bullshit about "community organizing" and the real progressivism being that which transcends, even obviates, conflict.
There's his arsenal of student government platitudes like the notion that "hope" has a self-evident, concrete meaning or that partisanship is a bad thing or that "politics of gridlock" is something more than important sounding filler for use by the male and female news bunny corps and their stable of talking head guest commentators.

The Sexiest Lingerie Ads Ever!

The self-proclaimed bra fitting specialists ‘Secrets From Your Sister’ have launched an amusing ad campaign to promote their brassieres.
With bountiful objectification of the female body, the posters shall surely irk the sentiments of feminists.
The naked model has measurements for the stitching of the bra written all over her bust which seems to suggest the great fit and comfort their new line of bras might provide.
The creative guys at the Juniper Park, Toronto, Canada surely knew how to attract attention, both from loyal customers and the new ones as well.
We wonder if the posters would cause a new round of bra-burning incidents, this time out of discomfort the other bras cause to the wearer.

BMW Appeals to Pedophiles in Car Ad

An international ad - not seen in the United States - features a Lolita-like girl shot from the shoulders up, her blond hair splayed across the page. The ad copy reads "You know you're not the first." The product: BMW used cars.
Though BMW's target market -- older, affluent and conservative -- might skew differently than that of a brand like American Apparel, Creamer said, brazen sexuality serves to draw younger customers into the fold and stimulate older customers.
Creamer attributed the BMW ad's racy message to the character of the company's international market.
"The standards are sort of different," he said. "Definitely in London and in the UK the standards are more lenient, and sort of risky advertising is expected, I think. You wouldn't see something like that from BMW in the U.S."

Gucci "Pubic Hair" Ad

Calls to ban a controversial Gucci advert showing a model with her pubic hair shaved into the company's logo were today rejected by the advertising watchdog.
Model Carmen Kass was pictured semi-clad inside the February edition of Vogue magazine, pulling down her knickers to reveal Gucci's trademark "G" symbol, with a male model crouching between her legs.
The picture is the work of Peruvian Mario Testino, one of Princess Diana's favoured photographers, whose subjects have also included Robbie Williams and Madonna.
The advert sparked a rush of tabloid condemnation, with the Daily Mail columnist Bel Mooney condemning its creators as "no better than pimps and those who advertise sexual services in phone boxes".
But it failed to outrage the British public, attracting a relatively subdued 16 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority claiming was "offensive and sexually suggestive".
The ASA said today it accepted Gucci's argument that the advert appeared in magazines targeted at "modern, fashion-conscious and sophisticated adults", and not children.
"The authority considered that the execution had been carefully targeted and that its sexual nature was unlikely to offend the fashion conscious readership," the ASA said, adding that although it was likely to be considered tasteless by some readers it was "unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence".
But campaigners worried about the content of the advert criticised today's ruling.
John Beyer, the director of Mediawatch UK, which had called for an immediate ban, said: "I think it is a great pity that the ASA continues to give way to the advertising industry.
"A lot of people who saw this advert thought it was indecent and I'm surprised the ASA have not upheld these genuine complaints."
Gucci said the advert was "intended to be the ultimate ironic pun for a sexy brand in a logo-led age".
They believed the image was "playful" and showed how men and women's sexual roles were changing.

All the Presidents' Condoms

I’m not sure the Election Protection line of condoms now being sold at Condomania will help with election dysfunction. Or maybe they will.
They also have ones with Nixon on them which puts a whole new meaning to the concept of “Watergate”, and the store kindly offers both Republican and Democrat variety samplers.
Adam Glickman started his condom business at Tufts University in the 1980s. Now, he says, Condomania is a multimillion-dollar online enterprise based in Los Angeles.
"In today's uncertain times, people are craving intimacy," he said.
The side pockets of Glickman's cargo pants ballooned with complimentary condoms, even some political prophylactics featuring stenciled, smiling portraits of Barack Obama, John McCain, or Bill Clinton on the packaging. Obama has been the big seller.
How many John McCain condoms has he sold?
"Not a one," Glickman said.
So much for the free market.
So, where’s my Stephen Colbert Magnum Super XXL 6-pack, and “Truthiness” lube?
